Family Storytelling
Let me preface this type of session: Our children only get one childhood. Those moments should be valued and documented. That is what family storytelling is all about. I look at photography the same way I do as writing: There is a beginning, middle, and end. Each time I document a day in the life session, I am documenting the small moments in a seamless timeline. Whether I am focusing on a specific storyline I want to tell or just documenting our day to day, the mundane, everyday details become a very real and authentic part of our lives: it is those moments that I never want to forget, nor should you.
Day in your life sessions should feel just like that: You inviting a good friend over to simply tag along during a typical day. Whether it is just lounging at your house or going on a family outing, documenting that day is precious to you and something you want to capture in the moment before it is just a fleeting memory.
Plus, it's not just the photos, it's the raw emotions that come out of a day in the life session that are most powerful to capture, in my opinion. Showcasing our true stories, the emotional roller coaster of childhood, and the messy, fun, loving moments is what this type of session is about.
The session can either be a full 8 hour session or a half day session of 4 hours. During our pre-session meeting, we will discuss what you are intending to get out of this session. Is it perfect? Heck no! But what I can promise is to create a set of images that encompass and showcase that specific day in your life: the small, meaningful and sometimes forgotten details of that day. These sessions feature no staged moments: just raw captures of your everyday. They tell YOUR family's story.
I will do a pre-session meeting, so your family is familiar with who I am and what the session will look like. However, during the day I am there, you can either treat me like a fly on the wall or like an old friend or relative visiting, while I capture your day, your way.
